I need help implementing a request from the members of my website.

I have made a chatroom which works great, just a basic frames page with AJAX text refreshing.

However, my members have asked that the window BEEP or play a sound if someone posts in the chatroom while they have the window minimised

The reason is that it's not always busy at certain times of the day, so people minimise the window and continue with whatever they were doing. They want the window to notify them when someone joins or posts.

How can I do this? I really have no idea, but it's probably gonna be Javascript.

One solution would be a small flash embeded on your page. When an event occures send it to Flash using ExternalInterface class.

i don't have enough (any) flash experience I'm afraid lol
