I use a disable right click Javascript on one of my websites and it's come to my attention that it is not functioning on the Shutter pop-ups. Does anyone have a snippet of Javascript that will include the pop-ups in its protection?

When you say popup, is it a new window? If so, did you include the script in the page that is popping up?

Also, bad idea to disable right click on a public site, people expect the browser to work a certain way. Also if people want to get around that it's easy (disable JavaScript).

If you would review the site I linked, you would know how it functions and why it is necessary. I know that if someone is insistent on stealing photos, their are ways around it. This will dissuade most people though, which is the goal of this being implemented.

I did review the site and can right click wherever I like, I also see no place where there is a popup or the word Shutter. Are you sure your script is working at all. Also feel free to answer my other questions if you want help.

I'm assuming this is the url cornsnakemorphgallery.com since this is the only link in your question.

Yes, the script is working flawlessly. You need to click an image to see the larger version (ie a Shutter Popup). Right click is not currently disabled while I'm working on the site.

It's a lot easier to see what is going on if you have it enabled. Can help fix something if I can't see whats broken.

The best way to keep people from stealing photos is to include a watermark over the images with the site name or logo. Even disabling right click is not going to keep people from finding where the image is. Most browsers have other ways to open source view (CTRL+U in Firefox, for example). If all else fails, and you have a console such as Firebug or even using Chrome, you can open up the developer console and see all of the resources that were requested for the page. Simply disabling Javascript right clicks aren't going to protect your images any more than they already are.

Yes, I'm aware. Please read a thread before responding. Watermarking is not an option. The average person, who this site is geared for, not a techy, is unfamiliar with source code, disabling Javascript and the like.

If the users visiting your sites aren't "techy", then why are you worried about them stealing your images? Also, I did read your thread before responding. You mentioned nothing about watermarking not being an option until I had said something about it. Please do not criticize other people's posts unless you have stated everything about your problem clearly and fully.

Also, people don't have to be techy to disable Javascript. All people have to do these days (and most people do) is install NoScript onto Firefox. That's not techy at all, and it easily bypasses your function to block right clicks. If watermarking is not an option, there is going to be no way to secure your pictures as you are wanting them.

Just because "most users" of your site don't know how to access the source code (etc), other people do. They will not hesitate to rip a picture that could potentially make them a profit, regardless of who the owner is. Your image could be floating around Google in a matter of hours, and then it's cached for anyone to take it straight out of the images directory.

If you use watermarking, it takes away all credibility of the person that steals the image. There are ways you can watermark an image without having to watermark the image itself. For instance, the PHP GD library could put a watermark over your images for you, without you ever having to edit the image.

Unless you have a suggestion to correct the Shutter right click issue, you are not contributing to this thread with anything that I need. I did post clearly and fully the problem. It's a right click Shutter issue, which has nothing to do with watermarking. Lecturing me on your opinion on usability with the average person and what I should do with my site is not something I find useful. The website clearly states no watermarking in the guidelines.

stbuchok, I did read your request to see it enabled, but I am working on other things right now that are higher in the food chain then this site. As soon as I have free time to fuss with it, I'll enable it and I'd be happy to hear your thoughts. Javascript isn't my cup of tea and I have my partner bogged down with other projects, so he has no time to look at it.

I wasn't "lecturing" you on anything. Secondly, judging by your business and the fact that I see you asking for script help on multiple sites throughout the forum already, I'm to assume that it's not your site. Thirdly, I took the liberty of visiting "your" site again, and I still see nothing about no watermarking. I also checked the guidelines.

As for the shutter problem, it's like stbuchok said: We can't look at something that is not working. If you get it working, I would be glad to take a look for you if stbuchok doesn't get to it first.

This is a help forum, and if you're not willing to listen to opinions, why are you here? Everything we tell you is our opinion. It could be done many ways, but what we show you is our opinion. There's no need to get snappy with someone trying to help you, or people will stop trying to help you. You didn't say anything about no watermarking, and neither does your site. You could have simply stated that watermarking was not an option. Instead, you snap at me and tell me that you have said something that you clearly haven't.

There's no need to work against each other. We're all coders here, and we're all striving for the same thing: perfection of our code.

I specifically acknowledged that I am aware that this will not prevent any work around that can be used to re-enable right click. I did not ask for anyone's opinion on watermarking. I specifically asked about Shutter and right click. It is very aggravating having to repeat myself when you could have just as easily read the thread to know that I'm aware that their are ways around the Javascript I am using.

Okay, well your post will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and you've yet to enable your script, or tell us what script file it is located in, or posted any sort of code for us to look at, or posted any errors that you may have discovered during your own debugging sessions. You have to give us something to work with. Not all of us have the time to sit here and debug every script in your site to find the code you're talking about.

I thought that my previous post clearly stated that I was not trying to argue over this, and you are still stuck on the fact that I mentioned watermarking as an option. I was merely stating an opinion, something you're clearly not a fan of.
