I am fluent in HTML and CSS, but have absolutely zero knowledge of Javascript. I was wondering if people have any particular recommendations of books to teach myself with?

I'm thinking particularly about the following three:

Javascript step by step, Steve Suehring (2008)
Head First Javascript, Michael Morrison (2007)
Javascript: The Definitive Guide (5th edn), David Flanagan (2006)

Any opinions?

Javascript: The Definitive Guide (5th edn), David Flanagan (2006) - not really a beginners book in my opinion, however is awesome none the less and is a must for any JavaScript programmer.

when i was learning javascript i use to take a look at the lynda.com tutorials 2nd i visit w3schools.com and 3rd used vtc tutorials.

I think you are there, cut and paste some scripts and play with them, if you run into problems... post here and real live knowledgable human beings will be glad to help you out!

New site, they maintain 1.5 version. Huge examples and simple English.

you can also check out w3schools, its very simple and straightforward

I own Javascript: The Definitive Guide, it was very useful when I was furthering my knowledge.

Other than buying a book, you could check out some of the stickies to see if you find some resources that may be useful.
