Not really a PHP-specific solutiion, but using the title html tag attribute will do what you want.

I assume you mean the current date/time for the reader? Then it's a javascript question.

ok noted. and thats not what im looking to do, only i will be accessing the timetable, and what i want to do is set each cell with a time that the event happens, and on what day . . then when viewing the site the cell corresponding to the current day/time will be highlighted so i can easily see which event is currently happening

regards

Yep I realise that, just thought I'd point out a thread that might just be useful (or not).

The highlighting bit is pretty straight forward, however if this is purely for your use do you not want to be highlighting what the NEXT action/event is going to be?
Is this going to be a Windows "sidebar" app? or are you planning to keep a page open for 24 hours. If it is the latter you do realise that the browser is very likely going to "crash" several times a day, and to be honest you would be off writing a simple planner app to run on .net.

ALTERNATIVELY it's ok as learning exercise but then again asking at a forum for the coding does makes the exercise somewhat futile.

i just wanted to put a schedule up so i can always check what i have planned at any given time, whats next ect . . and i could access it whilst in college ect, later once its fineshed i was going to convert it so i could view it on my phone but atm all i want is a timetable, where the current event is highlighted. im not going to have it up on my browser 24hours a day, and why would it crash?
i can just check, and maybey a cupple of other people to see my schedule whenever needed.

thanks

It will need to be server-side if you want to be able to view the calendar from various user agent and locations, but there are many many calendar scripts around that you could play with.

BTW The browser would crash because recursive javascript timer event are hugely client resource (memory) intensive and very quickly will use up what is allocated to the browser.

If it's a simple highlighting task, than just use the js-Date object, determine your time/day (the object has these attributes) and find your correct cell via node.childNodes[index]. You need to set "calculated" ids on your TRs though, to identify the correct time.

Given a TR has the ID "h08", you chould identify tuesday 8:00 through getElementyBdId("h08").childNodes[1] (monday would be 0, wednesday 2 and so on).
