I want to set up a page where if the user moves their cursor to the right edge of the browser window the content scrolls into view. Imagine a huge panoramic photo that is maybe 2000pix wide - you want to see more - normally you would use the horizontal scroll bar - I want it to be less of a hassle.

Why is it a hassle, People know what scrollbars are for. If the visitor wants to scroll to see the image they will. The vast majority of visitors won't even know that your auto-scroll exists

I would let them know.

Far more elegant to just swish over with the mouse than click & scroll.

Furthermore - they are interacting with the image, so journeys down to the scrollbar are cumbersome.

Les is right. I hate the inconvenience of clicking on my mouse. Could you also make the page scroll if I look at it a certain way?

Now that would be elegant.

What is wrong with clicking the mouse? Also if somone dose find a away to make this happen it proberly would only work in IE
