I can do a little HTML like http://www.zone-six.co.uk/pa.htm . Now I need to write a brand new site for my band. The singer is jumping up and down because she found an expensive host that allowed her to quickly make up this http://users.bandzoogle.com/thesoulproject/home.cfm. I'm sure it has drawbacks like being completly rigid in its layout.

I don't even know the place to start reading to produce this. I suspect its Java but I don't even know that much.

What are you having trouble with? I think this should be in the HTML section (mods can you move?) as the code for that site is an old tables-based layout. No real help for design with Javascript. BTW, Java is not the same as JavaScript.

Having started to read the tutorials Its the only bit I recognise. It answers my biggest question:- "am I in the right place?" Having established that I am, I'll let this thread go quiet and go learn things.

The code you mentioned is the Prototype library, which is just a collection of functions to make life easier. What exactly are you trying to do that you need help with?
