Is it possible to use Javascript or anything else to change the url that is displayed in the address box at the top of the browser???

not to actually change the URL to the site, but just make a different one appear in the address box.

thanks,
Steven.

At whatever address you want to show up in the address bar, have a page with nothing but a frame ( 100 % height, 100 % width ) pointing to the page you'd like to display.

In JS though, there's no way of doing this. It's a subject I looked into extensively when I was messing about with ajaxy frameworks... *shudder*
Your best bet would be to run everything from the root: 'http://yourwebsite.com/'. And then instead of urls use hash values: 'http://yourwebsite.com/#yoururl'
This works with the back button and with bookmarks.
Hope this helps, Tom.
