For those of you who make your living online publishing and running websites, what do you list as your "job title" when people ask? It seems that we're basically running little mini-corporations, so "Webmaster" doesn't quite cut it, but "CEO" seems a little pretentious.

What do you put (or would you put) on your business cards?

Once I get everything in place for myself, I'm thinking of something along the lines of "Lead ..." or "Director".

Although it doesn't mean too much to me, just my name on the business card will be fine.

I call myself an Entrepreneur, because that is what I feel I really am. But for customers and curious people I would say just business owner I think.

Yeah, I don't think it matters much. Whatever works. If you want to sound super proffesional, go for it.

Its a quite hard thing really. For some people it does not matter, some might feel that you are bragging and some are really impressed. Maybe it is just about get the feeling of the person before telling your title :confused1:

It depends. Sometimes I use "Entrepreneur" or I use "Web Site Developer".

I think CEO or Owner is a little too big.

Well, I guess I'm just the owner. I don't like fancy titles.

When I make enough money, probably Webmaster.

Or I'll just be mysterious and handsome, as usual :P

You can't call yourself a CEO without being incorporated.

I've read that before. If memory serves I believe there are also other "official" titles that you can't call youself unless you legally are one but I can't remember what they are off the top of my head.

I think it's best to stick with something simple like Owner/Webmaster.

Really depends on how you treat your business. Some here may run a website or two and are happy to make a few bucks off of it. Others have taken the step of creating a business name, and have even protected themselves by incoporating.

Once you have taken the steps of securing an actual business name it only benefits you to represent yourself in a professional way. It has nothing to do with EGO.

This is a tough one... I've used them all. I tend to typically use "Director", "Owner", and "Founder" to a lesser extent.

I guess I like "Director" the best.
