I really need some help on this one guys and girls.

I have a few health sites and don't want to get sued by some crazy internet user. I usually write at the end of the page to consult with their doctor first, before....blah..blah..blah.

Does a disclaimer keep you safe from getting sued? If so, how do you write a disclaimer without holes for possible attack?

Also, do you think it would be wise to change from a "doing business as" (DBA) to INC to remove my personal assets away from the company.

Thanks.

I've steered clear of setting up any kind of financial or health sites for just this reason...I am scared that someone will turn up one day and say "I did what it said on your site and now I'm paralyzed/bankrupt!" or whatever.

I was thinking about going to a lawyer and asking if they could come up with a generic multipurpose disclaimer that I could use for all of my sites (just like a general purpose fairly nonspecific "Provided as a guide only, use at your own risk; consult an expert before use" etc) I never got round to doing it in the end though. I guess you could come up with one yourself, but then there is the possibility that if it did go to court your "home made" disclaimer might be useless - I'm no expert but I get the feeling that disclaimers need to be legit legal documents created by a professional.

Will probably be expensive to get a decent one done, but worth it if you are running a lot of igh traffic sites I'd say.

Not sure about the company idea though sorry.

No!

Can you prove (in court) that the user read the disclaimer; heck, could the user even read?
