I'm currently coding a browser based game, and I am wondering what I should do for the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Do I need to hire a lawyer to write that for me? Can I do it myself? I don't exactly know what to do.

Have you had a look at others TOS and Privacy Policies?

Here are some from an old online game I used to play T&C and Privacy Policy.

Hope that helps!

There have already been a thread or two on this, but basically just try to find out the legality of what is required. What do you need to stay legal and protect yourself. Then write one out or pay someone else to - or use an existing "stock" TOS and Privacy Policy.

Just make sure to integrate a copyright into the game itself and create a TOS & PP

Looking at some terms at other game sites might give you an idea about any peculiar issues for that kind of site. But I would certainly not copy their terms.

I wrote a recent ebook about this precise topic:

Apparently, I can't post the url on this board until I have made 15 posts or more. Since I'm not going to make junk posts just to fill a quota you'll have to find by looking at my signature.

If you're also a member of the Warrior Forum let me know.

I wrote this because there are some places where you can get free legal terms, but the really important issues in website terms were the opposite of what a competent attorney would prepare. I have had cases where terms like that literally cost someone hundreds of thousands of dollars.

So much for 'free'.
