Is it legal to link to torrent files containing copyrighted material?

I don't think the torrent itself is illegal but the fact that you encourage piracy might be.

Just remember Suprnova.org and Thereal-world (this one was for eDonkey but still). Both closed by the MPAA or something like that.

So, I suppose 1 torrent will not get you into trouble but an entire site based on that will surely do eventually.

Well in the US you can get busted for it pretty easily. In Sweden and some other countries the laws are more net-friendly in the regard that you have to host the file to be closed. Torrents aren't remotely hosted on a single server so MPAA can't do anything really to sites like the The Pirate Bay.
