I would like to know if there is a law or we can do to protect/prevent ourselves from the crazies in this world (spammers). I had an experienced of receiving spam emails and I bet no one escape from receiving these spams.

why do people make such a fuss about spam? just delete it or filter it into your junk folder and pay it no mind at all.

People never seem to make the same fuss about the garbage that gets posted through their letterboxes.

I just throw the snail mail junk into the paper recycling bins, and the same with the email junk.

Spamassassin filters on the server.
RBL lookup on the server.
No "catchall" mailboxes.
A mail box that is NOT called info@ or webmaster@ to pick up messages from 20+ aliases.
No "common name" mail boxes or aliases.

Since implementing the above, I cut the messages down from 2,500+ a day with 30% plus spam, on 12 accounts from different domains, to a average of 300 a day with less than TWO percent spam messages.

You are always in control, if you have the common sense to do something about it.

I really don't pay much attention on this but I am curious on how to prevent it/eradicate or rather a law or something aside from using Gmail. Thanks anyway for the tips/information, it may help a lot.

I agree with you Mr. Jim, no laws to some countries, but mostly have a law on it but not implementing it. I have this one friend she received an unjustified spam complaint from a complete nutter. It's so unfortunate fact for those people who run an online business here.
