...installed at the moment.

i have old web sites (made with web matrix(that i still need to update)) running on there that cannot stop running if i upgrade the framework to 2.0.

2.0 is backwards compatible. So you should be able to move your old site running on 1.1 to 2.0.

In the event you want to keep your site running on 1.1, you can install the 2.0 framework without getting rid of 1.1. Just make sure you have different application pools for the sites running on 1.1 and the sites running on 2.0

hi Kbychu,

thanks for the advice.
what do u mean by "different application pools"? this is all a bit new to me. do u mean setting different "application extensions" in IIS?

do i understand correctly that i can have different framesworks set up for each site in IIS?

and one last thing, have u actually done this b4 yourself?

Yes you can use different frameworks for eash site. To choose which framework you're using after you've installed 2.0 is easy. All you have to do is open up IIS manager and right click on the site and choose properties. Select the ASP.NET tab and choose the ASP.NET version. In the Virtual Directory tab, you can choose the different application pools. An Application pool is the resources the server sets aside for the web sites, so just create a new pool for each framework you've installed.

And yes, I have done this myself. I have 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0 running on my box.
