Hello, Lee and fellow (L)earners,

I found this forum through Aaron's seobook.com, and I hope it will stay as good as it is now.

As this forum is about making money online, I want to ask a few questions:

How many of you have quit the day job in order to start living off online income?
Did that work OK for you?
How much time do you need before you can live off internet?

Usual replies and/or poll votes are welcome.

Many regards,

never had a job, but plan to make the majority of my income from websites, and work for "fun" - like cartooning, or a storyboard artist

Welcome to the forum, rimas.r!

I voted, selected "I have a day job but plan to quit it..." I've actually experienced the last option in the past... I wouldn't recommend to anyone unless they are really ready, not just financially, but mentally and emotionally as well.

I look forward to seeing other's responses and comments.

Looks like I am the first to vote on being in the "Quit my day job..." category.
I can't say it is "perfect" but I am really happy to have come this far.

Welcome to the forums!

I work part-part time (every other weekend) at a hotel, I make way more on the internet though.

Well I'm 17 years old. I work as a lifeguard and I only make about 200 a week. My parents can only afford to pay 4k a year for college so I have to come up with the rest. So pretty much I'm screwed and I need every penny I can get!

I still work full-time at a company. In my free time I work on my internet projects. Hopefully, in the (near) future I will do online marketing full time and can quite my day job!

Thanks for replies and voting,

I wonder about those of you that try to manage both day job and internet/side job - how much time does that consume? Do you still get enough private life?

Regards,

Somedays it is very exhausting to come home from a full-time data entry job and then try to spend another 4-5 hours at the computer but this is way more interesting! I am married with 2 grown children who are married and live a few states away. My goal is to build up my internet business to replace my present income and then find a part-time job for spending cash.

Is good to separate your internet life with your social life, you need to get out more. Can't be in a computer 24/7 hehe

"I have already quit the day job and doing so-so with internet money"

I'm expecting a lot more, even though US$ converts really well into Indian Rupee :-)

It is extremely hard doing both a day job and the internet stuff and still spending time with your family. I know my kid - while only 2 - probably thinks I'm a pretty bad Dad. I had to put him in daycare and I'm always on the computer. When he was born I was out of work, so he got spoiled for about a year. He hates going and it breaks my heart everytime I take him.

I just hope my internet stuff hits before he gets old enough to hate me because he doesn't understand that I'm working my butt off for him.

Its a tough nut to crack - so to speak. Its like I am doing it so my family is comfordable and I can spend time with them, but I am working so hard now and I know my wife and kids would rather have me hanging out with them at nights.
