Great site you guys have here. Hoping I can learn some things to increase my revenue streams.

Aside from a 40 hr/wk desk job negotiating contracts for a large hospital, I run three Vbulletin forums, LS1LT1.com, 5thgen.org, and mtfba.org

LS1LT1.com is an automotive site focused on late model General Motors performance. Most of the members are Camaro and Firebird owners. In just over a year online I have 2,100 members and 450 or so unique visits/day. I have about 25 paid sponsors I work with directly that generate about and I also run google adsense. I also have a premium membership program that has recruited 35 people so far.

5thgen.org is about 8 months old and only has 340 members. It is an enthusiast site for the upcoming 2009 Camaro re-launch. I don't expect it to take off wildly until late 2008 when the car enters production, but at least I'm staged and ready. I have only a couple sponsors plus adsense on this site.

MTFBA.org is my local (Nashville TN area) Camaro and Firebird club forum. I run it to break even just to give the club a site to hang out on, we have a sponsor and adsense there.

I'll take all those under advisement. I really hate MySpace...just on a personal level, but understand it can be a powerful monetization tool. I need to find ways to improve my search engine rankings as well.

I see Myspace as a place for hormonal teenagers and 20-something singles trying to find people to "hook up". Its all very public, and I'm a happily married parent who happens to enjoy my privacy.

I have single friends that want me to create a profile so we can "keep up"...I say "You have my phone number and email address, if you care to keep up you can use those" It is like text messaging, if you have the time to peck out a dumb message like "Wat R U doing?" then you have time to pull up my # and hit send.

So it just represents everything that I'm not in terms of lifestyle and personality. That said, I can get over all that if I can find a way to make some money w/o sacrificing my privacy.

I don't AIM, I don't text, I don't do Myspace. Call it me resisting cultural rot, LOL.

Yeah, I mainly use it for promotion of my sites and not for personal use, I just talk to a few people I know every once in a while.

Hi there Chris,

Welcome to the forum! I have a couple of points you may find interesting

1- Use myspace. You are missing out, especially with an already created niche area that you are working with. You could quite easily use one of the automated friend adder programs (they cost like $20) to add hundreds of "friends" with similar interests-after a few weeks or a month or so you could have thousands of like minded people looking at your profile- and if you have a link to one of your sites in your profile, Tada! instant residual traffic. I came across someone with 650,000 friends the other day, and I'm guessing her website is flooded with traffic pretty regularly. She seems to use myspace to its max, and I'm guessing she makes a fair penny from it.

2-It seems like you would have some good expert knowledge in your area- writing articles and submitting them to directories and any sites that will have them is a great way to increase your search engine ranking and get residual traffic. The articles can be about anything other people may find interesting or useful-How to date camaro spares, tips on cleaning carbs or whatever. It takes time to see the effects once implemented, but it's free and long lasting- I can see from your posts that you can write pretty well, and each article need only be 300-500 words in length-just make sure there are links to your site, and the rest is autopilot all the way.

Once again, welcome to the forum, and I hope you find that stuff useful. I have a free download from my website that will help you monetize your site, I can't post the url for the download here, but if you PM me I will send the link to you.

David
