I've been very fond of Ireland and the Irish since the second half of the sixties. Used to have some friends around Leap, Co Cork (oh, my sweet memories of the Leap Inn!), and in Australia one of my mates was Sean O'Faolain, son of the writer and, by the way, a writer in his own right (or a righter in his own write - grin)?! Picked up a bit of the lingo that way, but in the decades thereafter it faded from whatever's left of my mind.
