Greetings all!
My name is Jaap Verduijn, I'm 61 years old, living in my native country The Netherlands, and basically good for nothing - at least that's what my wife and children try to convince me of... half seriously, half jokingly.
Being autistic, I have always known that building a family and keeping up with the increasing complexity of modern society, would eventually absorb and deplete all my limited capacities for pretending to be normal (grin). So I (ab)used my younger years to travel the world, try dozens of different jobs, enjoy as many brands of beer and representatives of the opposite gender as was possible in this basically fatal combination (nudge nudge, know what I mean, say no more, nudge nudge!), earning lots of money one year and being flat broke another... in short: compiled and collected lots of memories that ("now I am a man no more no more and a black reward for a roaring life" - with thanks to Dylan Thomas) help me make it through the night.
I have a wife now (Caroline) and two daughters: Veronica (20) and Suzanne (14). In fact Caroline is my second wife, and my third. To put your mind at rest about me possibly being a bigamist: we once got divorced, and later on decided to marry again.
My last steady job was six years as a city councillor ("gemeenteraadslid" in Dutch), which came to an end last March. I celebrated this by, together with Caroline, going on vacation in my favorite Middle-East, to be precise Kuwait and Egypt. After our return I decided to become an internet millionaire (wide and wicked grin)! Seriously: as a severe but "high functioning" autist, I can much easier work isolatedly behind the computer all day and part of the night, than trying to do anything "social". No, I'm not a millionaire yet, but Bill Gates and I together are. So at least there's a start!
At this moment I'm sort of concentrating on GDI, building specific teams for what you might call "niche groups". In fact I'm in the early process of setting up such a team/group for blokes and sheila's like myself, and of course other individuals who can't be pizza deliverers on account of being wheelchair-bound or so, but who can just like myself work perfectly well behind the computer.
Alright, that's enough for today. My own attention span is practically limitless (in fact obsessionally so), but yours isn't - I guess (grin)!
Be well!
