New Member Introductions

I have been a member for a few months (I think).

My background is in computers: repair / sales / networking / ISP stuff

I manage an internet service provider in my area. Its pretty fun. I have been in the ISP / computer biz for 10 years. I am just now realizing I know things like IIS, Apache, DNS, Mail blah blah blah but I don't know how to make money online.

My first adventure has been into domaining. I have acquired 200 or so names and have them parked all over the place. I make about 100$ (or less) a month on parking revenue. I have found it to be toooo passive. I have also sold a number of my domain names now and then. It is extremely inconsistent

I want to be actively making money so I thought I would try affiliate marketing. My first adventure into that realm was a joke. I tried some ringtone affiliate with an adwords campaign. Uh...it didn't go very well and it exceeded my budget pretty quick. It got ugly.

Anyway, I am 35, married with 4 kids and money is tight tbh. Its time to try some new things....

So thats me in a nutshell. I have a few hobbies: Racquetball, Fishing, Family stuff, camping....

Please to meet you! I used to live in Utah, too. In fact, I've driven through Southern Utah a couple times - most recently a couple weeks ago. I couldn't believe they're letting people build houses on the red rocks in the St. George area. Sheesh.

About domaining...

There's a difference between a collection and a business.

Collecting is a hobby. It may or may not make you money. It's something you do in your spare time.

Having a business means having a plan, learning everything you can about the business, the competition, what you need to do to succeed, and applying the plan and putting the time and effort into being successful.

You're in the right place to learn. I've learned a lot just by reading, going to the blogs and reading, going to more blogs and reading some more.... and then there's the Thirty Day Challenge, which has taught me so much I'm now in information overload.
