My name is Dave and I'm a professional Geek (kid's don't try this at home).
I am in my 40's and I do a little bit of everything. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in computer programming.
I did application development after graduation (I bounced between Borland, Ashton-Tate, Symantec, and Apple for the first 3 years after college). I got hired for a year by Everex to write device drivers for modems, video cards, etc... and learned how to work on computer hardware.
When the web came out, I learned some HTML and got into back-end development in classic ASP. My ex-wife wrote a few books on HTML, XML, etc.. and we owned a web hosting and development company for a number of years.
My current day job is a web developer for a HUGE insurance company (Classic ASP, ASP.NET and an Oracle backend), but my latest passion is in multimedia development (Motion Graphics and Animation).
I still do a little bit of consulting on the side still, creating web sites for friends and family.
