Hi I'm Ernie Bryden from Gretna, UK.
I have my own hosting from Hostgator and so far I've uploaded a free Wordpress blog, Wordpress templates, and widgets, so I can just about use cPanel okay lol.

I noticed that Hostgator offered some free website templates, so I downloaded a few. My stumbling block now is I don't know what to do with them. Can I upload them using cPanel, do I need to create another database or something, or do I need something like dreamweaver? Strangely Hostgator didn't give any instructions.

I really hope there is an easy solution that doesn't involve coding etc, but if not I'm willing to learn. Any help greatly appreciated, Ernie.

Thanks. I've tried searching the forum for this but I'm probably looking in the wrong places. I'm willing to pay if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Yes there was some good advice on there. Things are becoming a little clearer. I'm going to read up on this and I promise to post my results.

well I've solved part of this and feel I'm very close to solving the rest.

After buying a domain and changing the dns servers (that bit I knew how to do) I waited and waited but the new domain didn't appear on my cPanel. I eventualy discovered that I had to click on something called Addon Domains to add a 2nd domain, 3rd etc.

I then spent ages learning to use filezilla, configured an account, created a directory, but couldn't work out how to upload files so uploaded them using cPanel, job done.

My problem now is why won't my website show when I type the domain in my browser? I think either I need to redirect the domain to a specific address for the folder (goodness knows what), or perhaps the free template is not working as I thought it would. Or perhaps I need to work with the template in the ftp filezilla client. Perhaps even the problem is because the template is a flash version.

VERDICT: I guess there's no easy solutions, but they are easy if you know how, so I will persevere until I crack this, anyone want to throw in their tuppence worth I'd be eternaly gratefull, thanks in advance, Ernie.

Cheers Tim.
And an update. problem solved.
thanks to a friend I've now got my new domain pointing at the correct url and therefore my website.
All I have to do now is edit the script, images etc that came with the template. I can do this with filezilla. I may even have to learn to write code after all, as I need to create extra pages. It's all fun, who knows i may even get good at this and be of help to others here.

Hello. I am new to to this forum and website designing. I am in the process of designing a website for a company and am interested in finding a software that allows buyers to use their credit card in a secure environment. Can someone suggest a legitimate software? Thanks.
