Hello! Here's the story of why I came here:
I have a massive personal website which I want to redesign. This website was originally designed in 2003 by my (now) ex-boyfriend. He's a programmer, and I'm an artist with no scripting experience whatsoever. So my website has perlscript, javascript, and all sorts of customized widgets and whatsits running on it, some of which have broken, but many of which still work. Over the years, I maintained and updated my site with basic HTML knowledge.
But that's no longer enough. I want to redesign parts of my site to look more appealing and to accomodate new sections. I thought, "HTML was easy to learn, so CSS must be just as easy!" Obviously, I've learned otherwise during the past few days of a steep learning curve.
I'm having the troubles that most self-taught beginners might face. Part of me is wondering if I should just throw in the towel and use WordPress, but I don't know much about WordPress.
Now that you know my situation, I'm open to advice.
