Hi Folks.
My name is Mike, and I'm new here. I've been lurking around for a couple of hours now, and decided to take the plunge and register and introduce myself.
I am 26, and live in beautiful downtown Savannah, Georgia, USA. It's a great place to live, and equally as nice to visit. I'm originally from the southern burbs of Chicago, and headed down here to escape the cold about four or five years ago.
I have been interested in web design for the better part of a decade now, I guess, but have only become relatively serious about it in the past three years. I started learning how to write scripts using php purely out of necessity, and now have a pretty darn good grasp on it, I think. My graphic design skills are definitely amateurish, but passable. I tend to be a perfectionist in relation to my site and code, and that just sloooooooows everything up.
My long-time girlfriend and I (notice how I list her first-- not only is it grammatically correct, but it also keeps me off the couch!) started up a little political debate site a few years back called
America's Debate. We have had amazing success to this point, and have grown into a well established, fairly busy community.
I also enjoy learning about search engine positioning, and have somehow managed to get Google to list my site as the first result for political debate, the second and third results for Democrat debate, and numbers three and four for Republican debate. It has been fun watching as we climb in the ranks!
Anyhow, I will probably go back to lurking for a little while until I get a decent grasp on the flow of this forum. Thanks for reading!
Mike
