Thanks Mooo. Where coursework's concerned, that's what I find the trouble with. It's not that I can't do what is asked of me, it's more to do with a certain degree of laziness on my part, something I should be looking to rid of I guess if I'm to take the want to go on to further education seriously.
PHP wise, it's something I do plan on picking up, eventually. However, when I first wanted to get into the whole web design scene, I was advised not to try everything at once. I'm progressing at a slow but sure pace and while HTML, XHTML and CSS are first on the learning curve, PHP, Javascript and a bundleful of other languages that I'm interested in are listed somewhere down the line also.
