New Member Introductions

I've been looking to join some web/designer/programmer based forums, and ended up googling and came across this one. I'm on a few others but one of them is near death, and the other I've become far too acquainted that I wanted to try something new.

I'm a twenty-one year old female living out in Chicago, IL. I finally decided to go back to school after 3 years, going to get my Associates in Web Design/Administration. It's just weird going to school after I have self taught myself everything I know.

I've got ever expanding knowledge of css, xhtml, MySQL, php, and more recently ASP, Ruby on Rails and TRYING to understand JavaScript but for some reason I can't seem to focus much on it.

Oh, and I run my own web hosting company (two years old!) and I'm obsessed with X-Files, CSI, and Law Order.. Play way too much Metroid Prime: Hunters via WFC on my Nintendo DS, Xbox (Halo 2!), and some PC gaming (Counterstrike, WoW

, and sometimes I play BF2.)

Haha, yeah, I'm used to being one of few females on a forum, especially one that's geared towards websites/programming, etc.

Anyway, so long as you guys all post, and give me something to read and respond to, I'll definitely be active here

Dont you hate how at school, they teach you stupid stuff or stuff you already know about web design? I took a class in web design last semester and we laid out a site in tables. I was thinking, "you are teaching us wrong!" the whole time.
Anyway, welcome and I hope you enjoy your time here!

oh, and I play WoW a little too. How cool to see another girl who does!

Yeah, I have to take a "designing with frontpage" class as part of my associates, but I either plan on seeing if I can skip that, or get some separate work as opposed to have to rely on a method I have never used, even when I was just starting off.

Either way, I have a WWW Authoring course coming up, and if they try to make me design like that, I'll refuse to do it, and use my own methods that comply with today's standards. :P

But I am definitely enjoying my time here so far!

Riane, you ever done any modelling work wearing nothing but a series of printouts containing Response.Write-related code or maybe the creation and destruction of connection and recordset objects?
