Okay, I open my email to see about 200 messages from earner's forum... yikes. I don't want to unsubscribe from the threads exactly - I'd still like them in my user control panel, but I don't want to get email notification. How do I do this?

Edit your options to subscribe with no email notification.

Yeah, same here. It should be default that we're unsubscribed from threads and no emails are sent.

Thanks. I probably could have found it on my own, but thanks nonetheless.

I disagree. Setting a member to instant emails by default on a forum is very beneficial and what I use now by "default". It is simple for a new member to go back and change this.

When a new member comes in and asks a question, it may happen at a time when nobody is around to answer. It helps to have this notification set up that way when someone does answer, they get the notificatio in email. Without it, they may never visit your forum for the answer.

I guess it depends on the person. I only like certain emails in my inbox and forum notifications aren't one of them I guess.

Same here ... I think if somebody will post a topic and leave and wants to get notified he can easily set subscribe at posting option ..

You have to factor in the typical new user. You guys are speaking from a forum administratro perspective.

The average new member of a forum has no clue what that setting means. They are doing googl/yahoo/msn searches, stumble across your forum, and lucky for you they register. If you are lucky, they actually post a question. After a few minutes of looking a their thread, they move on.

The notification gets them back.

For a person that is familiar with forums, they know about this setting. They can change it when they sign up.

I've also been getting tons of emails from EarnersForum. After I switched it off, it was much better.

I also think that setting it on by default is a good choice. It really brings back the members no matter what

Well, the person that is familiar with the forums are most likely to be a return visitor. The guy that gets his question answered will probably never come back.

Whenever I have computer troubles, I'd search Google and come across a forum where I'd post a thread, get my question answered, and I'd forget all about it.
