Personally, I think that as the users we need to generate some quality discussion. And make money.

As for contests, I think we should consider a SEO contest... heh. I've always wanted to participate in one.

I have several projects working behind the scenes right now. The marketplace section is under development and some other exciting things are as well. Regarding contests, yes there will be more and one should be coming soon!
