Should EF allow affiliate links in sig's? a growing number of members are posting to promote their affiliate links in their sig's, and I really hate to see EF's turn to a forum like that.

I vote for a rule like the one on WHT where members arent allowed to place affiliate links in sig's, I know thats more work on our moderating team, but hey, they can always add more mods when needed to keep the quality of our great forum.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree 100%, rather annoying seeing those work at home links.

I agree. It´s great to see which sites members have but excluding PIPS and similar pre-done sites.

I think after so many posts, you should get more forum privilages - like affiliate links in sigs after 200 posts or something.

I don't think they should be there at all. Kind of annoying when you see a cool link and then realise that it is an affiliate link. Oh well, I might have to settle for cross typing the link into my URL bar

I don't mind it at all.
If people are directing you to their own websites for profit, why not just skip the middle-man and direct straight to the site they're affiliating with?

You have an affiliate link in your signature. :detective:

Hahaha, I put it after that post.:tooth: And I did write what I think - I think it´s an interesting read and I wrote that it´s an affiliate link. If it bothers someone or if admins cancel aff. links I´ll remove. And I´ll remove it if this guy starts selling some crap

I don't really see a problem with it. Its not too hard to avoid a small signature affiliate link.

What about when somebody makes posts like, "What about PPC advertising, what do you think of that?" Never really informative posts, but just trying to get there link noticed?

It's a sad day when people care more about measly signature links than the quality of posts. Oh no, it's the end of the world, I see a ref=666 in a signature URL!!! *Edits signature.*

See ? Click it some time and you'll see what to do if a spammer makes a post just for signature links.

Ask a question: Can the answer to the question help webmasters make money? If it's yes, then what's wrong with asking the question??? Now if they go through making a lot of threads like that....then it probably might need to be deleted.

What about the guys who make sites about how to make money online, but actually are not really sure how to make money online at all? How can they have a site like that and promote it, yet they don't even know themselves?

Hehe, these are good ones. "How to make money with affiliates?" and in the signature something like "Live from your passive income from the net (click here)!"

So the thought of someone making a commission on something you buy is negative?

Whats's the difference between you looking at an offer that is from an affiliate link or from the one who owns the site? I fyou like the product and want to buy it then why shouldn't the affiliate that showed you the offer get a peace if the pie?

Well see the thing is, most of the offers I am seeing are from unknown websites and from unknown people. For example if Lee started endorsing some product or Spencer than I might actually take a look at it.

I am sorry but the guys who have no actual little earnings bar or websites (apart from the "how to make money" ones) do not cut it as affiliates in my mind. But hey, if it is making you a decent amount of money, then just tell me to **** off

In my opinion, signature marketing is a pretty normal technique and I think it should be allowed. I think it actually helps to enhance the quality of a forum. Why? Because you can only be a successful sig marketer if you build trust and give helpful advice.

It think it's a win/win situation and only fair to give people the opportunity to collect a couple of sales while helping other members of this forum.

What if everyone with an affiliate link had to state that it is an affiliate link? Like what D.J. does, I find that honest and I'd be more likely to click on it.

I mean, its not to hard to detect an affiliate link. Just hover over it and if its like refID=103501351305 then you know....

Yeah, I don't bother clicking on those eBook or random make money ones from weird URLs and stuff. If I ever promote a affiliate/referral URL, its always from a nice, well-known (and high-paying) website

If someone wants to purchase something from an affiliate link in an signature without researching the product, then shame on them. I don't see why it should matter if it is an affiliate link or not. Plenty crap being sold on actual websites as well. Should we be forced to police that as well?

If I was going to complain about anything in the signatures here, it would be the size of some of them and all the goofy smilies drawing attention to them.
