This has happened before so I thought I'd mention it since its happening again...

When I try to view the thread:

Firefox tries to save down showthread.php to my desktop. And IE just cant display the page.

I've seen this happen at various vBulletin forums before, I don't think its anything specific with EF.

Yes, some pages have errors because of the RSS feed of some members.

I found another thread where the error is similar:

Whatever the error is, moves the footer blue band with footer links up, across the middle of the first post in the thread (or second).
