When 2 different message boards are merged, as this one was with Earners, if you use the same exact (including case) user name and email address, both will be merged automatically. If there was even the slightest difference, there will be a duplicate account. The administrator has the ability to merge both accounts as long as you are able to prove they both belong to you.

Since there is a rule here prohibiting duplicate accounts, I had my original account here at WT, which was under a different user name and email address, merged into my Earners account. I now have all the PMs, posts, etc. under this account. And even though this account was established in 2007 and my original WT account in 2005, my join date indicates the older account.

It's a very simple operation. Painless. The admin can handle it easily, but because of the number of requests, you may have to wait several days for it to be processed.

Well, its a good thing Webmaster-talk is getting bigger. Id hate to see it fall like some webmasters forums. Start off strong then fail. But, i see webmaster-talk lasting a very long time

Congratulations on the Merger :P!

It is great to see a solid Community, build on over two different boards. I am sure now there will be more competition for the other big webmaster forums out there, DP and Sitepoint.

I really hope Webmaster-Talk can grow even more to be one of the best Webmaster Communities on the web and give the other boards a run for their money!
