I agree wholeheartedly. Considering the unbelievable coincidence that the board was hacked and the email address used for this board now is flooded with porn spam starting about 3 hrs after the fake message was delivered, I think public release of his info would be the least thing that should happen to him. I can say that this wasn't my idea of what my first post would be like.

We have server logs of every single move he made (including one where he thought himself clever and removed the IP address form his vBulletin account...), and that did not include generating a list of emails. He simply used vBulletin's "mass email" feature. You needn't worry about anyone having your email addresses.

I am new to the forum by just a few days when I received the email. It crossed my mind that it may be a hack but wasn't sure. I pretty much decided though that since I had done nothing to get banned, as this is my first post, I was going to ignore the ban because this looks like a darn good forum with a lot of good information and I do not want to miss out. Thanks Tim for the apologetic email. As I said, it looks like a good forum.

I saw no message, but if you need more technical "hands" or a little financial help to resolve this issue, let me know.

The message needs to be sent out that these types of "crimes" will not be tolerated, will be followed up on, and cannot be done anonymously.

I hope someone will document everything and make it available, even if the person is not named. We need to educate people that just like breaking into someone's house, they will be caught and pay the price.

A press release would be nice. This is "news" and most people don't want to talk about this kind of problem. If we could raise awareness, you could report the crime, turn over the evidence, and not think about getting a lawyer. You don't get a lawyer when someone breaks into your house, do you?

I like the idea of a press release. Getting the word out that messing with us will be futile will not only deter future attempts but it would also be great free publicity.
