Hopefully the name signed as "TimSchroeder" would have been a good indication of a false PM (seeing as it was sent from DaveMo~).

i simply dont see the point of it. Why would someone go to the trouble of sending out large numbers of PM's like that. What would he/she have to gain from it? Unless it was a rival forum(something like that happened to me) but i doubt it.

Have to say who on earth wastes there time doing this kind of thing. I guess if I had as much time on my hands as this "person" (My terminology is to kind I know) I would be working on reaching my fourth million instead of consolidating my fourth credit card!

only the alert message.

As to the "why", it appears to be revenge for a very valid banning after they spammed all over the place. How they see that we deserve "punishment" for this is beyond my logic.

Didn't get the spam from anyone here, though with all the domains I deal with, I do have to sort through a ton of "crap" regarding spam for the domains' webmaster@ and info@ addresses... never know, might be an offer for something I actually want.

As for the perpetrator, prosecute his 'nads to the full extent of the laws allowed.

It's time these losers started having to pay for their misuse of resources, harrassing and annoying, not to mention unwanted and unsolicited crap.

Kudos to the quick cutoff and warnings sent out. Nice job and good to know this crew is on the ball.

My sincere apologies to all the members at Webmaster-Talk that my account was misused to send malicious messages. Hopefully, the steps now taken will prevent any future misuse. I apologize for any inconvenience that it may have caused you.

Thanks to everyone that replied back to the PM letting us know that it had gone out. Some of you have known me long enough to realize that I would not have sent that, unless I had totally gone bonkers. Neither I, nor the other Forum Leaders, will ever send out such a message. Any contacts from me will be in a civil and professional manner. For those that have not known me that long, I hope you stay a member of Webmaster-Talk for a long time and we all have a good relationship on this forum.

Reminder: Make sure that your anti-virus and spyware eliminators are functioning and up-to-date. Also, it is wise to frequently change your password. It's even better to use a password generator to make up those random passwords, such as here.

I'd just like to say thanks to Dave for personnally sending out an explanation.
Although most may be thick skinned.

I would just like to say that any user doing this type of abuse is a pure waste of keyboard typeing non skills.
