Hey All,
As some of you know we've been running contests every so often for new logos to celebrate different holidays and similar. We're currently featuring a spring logo.
The thing is there are only so many holidays and only 4 seasons. We thought given we're a community built around wed design and development that it would be fun to honor some historical anniversaries of computers and the web.
I discovered those dates are harder to find that you might think. It's easy enough to find the year something happened, but not always the month and even less the exact date. We don't need the exact date for our purposes, but a month would be nice.
It dawned on me that we're a rather bright group here and I'm thinking many of you already know some historical dates that would work and just as importantly have ideas for which events we should honor with a logo.
So we're asking you to suggest some historical events we should celebrate and if you know the date or at least the month of its anniversary please post that too.
I already started a contest for a logo celebrating the first Apple computers which debuted in July of 1976
Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

J G R we need a date or at least a month if you can find one. That was the issue I had. I found plenty of events to celebrate, but the dates they happened were kind of murky.
I think I might have a month for Atari. Not sure if I found one for Nintendo. Both would make for good logos though.

There's always next year
I'm assuming we're going to miss quite a few. Hopefully we'll have a nice list of events to celebrate for the future.

I am not good with Tech Anniversaries, what about Java? Unfortunately there is no month only 1995 when it appeared. Although James Gosling had the software in use June 1991.

Jared I think Bill Gates birthday would fit nice.
Giselle do you know what month Java first appeared or some month we can specifically associate with it? We're probably going to need to know a month to run a contest. I like the idea of honoring Java. It's certainly had its impact on the web.
