Hello everyone
We have decided to remove the religion and politics forum from the site. It doesn't fit with the mission of the site moving forward and we believe will be more trouble than its worth.

Now the Politics and Religion forum gets axed without so much as a "how do you do?" because it "doesn't fit the mission" of the new owners, which is apparently fish, and of course spam and paid posters who have little more intellect than the spammers. So what is your mission, guys, tearing down something good that's been around for years and turning it to garbage? If so, you're doing a great job, right on target!
Did you bother to ask current members how this might be a better forum? Do you even care? You do realize that part of purchasing a forum lies in the following it already has? Or is it your intent from the start to alienate them and the site's more valuable to you dead? Seeing as how you're killing it, I think that's probably more likely.
My suggestion is to put the axe to the Suggestion and Feedback forum, because you have no use for it, except to look good by it being there. Or hey, shock us all and actually address the concerns your membership has. I'd fire your PR guy too, 'cause he's definitely been sleeping on the job.

If you're going to make an omelette, you're going to have to break a few eggs. If people want to talk about religion and politics, there's plenty of good places on the Internet to do so. It doesn't fit in to a forum dedicated to discussion about technical and business matters.

Just for the record, i don't miss the P&R Forum.
But if you break all your eggs, all you're gonna have left is pork.

Like either of you ever were in that forum to know. Judging from what content is now the norm, this forum's leadership needn't worry about the forum's reputation being tarnished by people talking about politics or religion. Its credibility started going downhill with the merger with Earner's Forum and was finally driven out with the buyout.

Funny how the ones kissing up here never posted in that forum, likely never looked at it.
For the record, the Politics and Religion forum was created to be like the water cooler -- We don't JUST talk about business and tech. It had some fairly intelligent subject matter, that was where the grown-ups went to talk, though just prior to its execution a few young'uns slipped through. Like the death of any discourse related to the web that didn't reek of an Amway sales pitch, I mourn the loss of the P & R forum, the last haven here where one could discuss intelligent non-Web-related subjects.
Of course, one has to have a brain and use it to comprehend that.

Tim, my little comment about not missing the R&P forum was in no way intended to diminish that part of the forum, just my opinion. Yes I visited it, and yes I told someone to F-off because they said something really offensive. I received a warning for that, and rightly so.
The main point I was trying to make by that comment is that, if you alienate all of your members, you're left with nothing. The members are what make up a forum. I was basically agreeing with you Tim. Maybe my analogies aren't so artful, as it relates to the eggs, and pork....bacon....SPAM!
I am also 1 person who is hard pressed to be labeled as a suckup, so please don't go there.
Other than that, agree with you 100%, or at least 97%.
