Another nice addition to Webmaster-Talk forums! What stipulations on file size? Type of ad (what type of site)?

Good questions Dave.
File size needs to be less than 15k
What tpe of sites?
No casino or x-rated ads. I reserve the right to deny any advertiser But you can even advertise an affiliate program link there which could be well worth the investment.
I am going to develop a separate /html page with more details on advertising here (top banner, bottom banner, or $4.95 deal).

Whoa, Webmaster-talk that is very "high" for any site. $5 per 1,000 is the highest I have everseen. But actually might be worth it for this forum since it would be a prime place to advertise a hosting service or something similar.

Actually it is very low in comparision to all the other webmaster forums I have been to. But you do have me thinking. I will drop the rates considerably (afterall, it is the bottom banner).

2 CPM is very reasonable considering a CTR for even the most horrible banners are at least %.01 , and I am sure some hosts out there will reaise how highly targetted this forum is a take advantage of that. Good Luck.

Hi Chief,
I'm not sure sure about the $1 CPM for the bottom banner. It's in such an obscure location. I mean, I have made at least 1000 visits, and I never even noticed that banner until reading this thread.
The top banner for $2.50 is a very good deal, in my opinion. I might be interested in that too.
I think you should offer opportunities for "sponsoring" certain forums/categories. Most webmaster forums I know of (SitePoint, WHT, FWS) have sponsors for certain categories and/or forums. The advertiser than gets advertising within that forum/category, in addition to a little button on the main page, usually in the forum description (or somewhere on the category bar, if it's a category sponsor). I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, Chief, since you've been to quite a few boards. This actually brings about quite a high sum, and I would recommend charging something like $1.75 CPM for forums and $2.25 for categories.

Yes, I know what you mean and had planned to do something similiar to that. Do you think a sponsor setup (text link) like I have in the Hosting forum is a good idea. I would think that would get several hits. For a text link similiar to that, I would probably just use a monthly fee rather than by CPM.
dinsol, I'll get you an email out ASAP. Thank you.

Hi Chief,
Yes, I think that is a great idea. It's immediately noticeable, and yet it's not distracting at all. I also think a link should probably be put in the forum description as well.

What about a series of 6-10 "related links" at the top of the pages? You could sell these for a couple of dollars/month each and it seems like it would be a pretty good deal all around.
