Hello,
I would like to Welcome conkermaniac to the moderator team!
I think he will do a great job.
The six forums he will be moderating are:
1. Shoot the Breeze
2. Site Review
3. Hosting
4. Link Swaps
5. Domain Name Discussion
6. Referral Mania
Conkermaniac has 3-4 years experience in web designing (and participating on message boards ). Other skills of his include HTML, JavaScript and PHP. He has also worked with Java and Flash action scripting, off of the web design world and studied in depth the world of free webhosting for just a bit over half a year.
Again, Welcome aboard!

It was only a matter of time before you talked your way into a mod position here. Congrats

Hi,
Thanks, everyone! I'm glad I've gotten the support of all of you (except maybe Tiggy, hehe. j/k ). I will do my best to be a fair moderator, and I will continue contributing helpful posts, if possible. I also look to get back to doing more of those comprehensive reviews, so be on the lookout for those too!
Thanks again for the warm welcome.

congrats conker, a little late i know, but still, well done. you've got the posts, and though that formula was very complexicated to work out, i'm sure you've got the stats. keep it up, the contributions, the functionality, the helpful attitude, the forum thrives on people like you

any time kido i've appreciated lots of input from you myself. perhaps i'll be lifted to the clouds one day and join you...but for now i remain a lowly high-frequency poster.
chief, how often are mods appointed? is it only as and when you require them because the work load gets too much? just what exactly is entailed in being a mod? and can you be un-moded once you've become a mod?

Hi DaveTodd,
I'm not Chief, but I think I can help answer some of your questions.

It seems like new moderators are appointed when there is a need for one. As this forum progresses along, there may be a need for more moderators if the number of harrassing, spam, or problematic messages grow as well.

Well, as a mod, you must delete spam, lock threads when they get out of hand (but mostly, I'll leave that to Chief and Dave), and try to post as frequently as possible. And as with all jobs, you can be demodded if you do a bad job or never participate, but that is a very unlikely case.

Conker was right. New mods are appointed basically when we feel there is a need. The next one will probably be appointed when we reach 1200 to 1400 members.
It is hard for me to always respond to every post and closely moderate the forums by myself.
General Mod duties are to edit out affiliate links or SPAM posts. If a thread is posted in the wrong forum, they can move them. Partcipate in the forums. And while not required, help promote Webmaster-Talk if possible.
Yes, you can be unmodded although it is unlikely to happen unless you disappear for a long period of time (speaking of that, Ahmed had to go on sort of a month vacation).
Finally, just because you are not a mod, does not mean you are any less important here on Webmaster-Talk! I like to have some of my top posters as non-mods. I don't want it it look like the only ones who participate are mods if you know what I mean All are members are of equal importance here on Webmaster-Talk (some just like to participate more).

hooray for communism!! all webmaster-talkers are equal, but some are more equal than others and thus...they are mods.
thankx for clearing that up chief. i've been around for a while now, not an amazingly long time, but i'm picking up speed. been away alot recently, if you count out those days then i'm still averaging over 10 posts per day, and thats pretty fancy work.
things goin alrighty conk? got over your initial power trip yet?
