MEMEdex: Easily add polls to your website. Earn money when your users answer questions.

MEMEdex allows you to place polls on your website and earn money when users answer questions. You can choose from thousands of polls on every topic already in our database, choosing specific ones or random ones based on criteria such as category, keywords, user, and popularity. You or your users can easily create new polls.

You choose the questions. We have THOUSANDS OF POLLS in our database you can query by a host of parameters, including topic, popularity, user, etc.

You can use our existing look or customize the look to match that of your site. We give PHP code you can drop in to render our XML, or you can write or rewrite your own. When users answer questions they are taken to a results page. MEMEdex splits ad revenue from the results page with the originating site.

The hidden benefit of polls to media sharing sites: added textual content

Media sharing sites (an image or video hosting service, for example), lack the relevant textual content that keyword-based advertising services like AdSense use to effectively target ads. Placing MEMEdex polls on user profiles increases advertising revenue in two ways:
  1. Users select polls on personally relevant topics, giving their profile pages a larger number of relevant textual keywords for AdSense to target ads.
  2. The originating site and MEMEdex split all advertising revenue on poll result pages. Adsense works even better on poll results pages, since users who vote on polls have already demonstrated an interest in the topic.
With media sharing sites, the benefits can be huge. User Generated Content sites typically earn around 5-10% of the CPMs of topic specific, text-rich sites; meanwhile, the operating costs of a User Generated Content site are frequently several times that of news and information sites.

Sites like DriverGuide (Alexa 1,878) and Glowfoto (Alexa 7,960) already use the MEMEdex API to serve polls hundreds of thousands of times a day.
