Hi all,
So here goes my ad:
DNSWatch.info provides DNS lookups - measuring the time during every lookup step while resolving a dns name or doing an IP reverse lookup.
But when it is important to know dns speed?
I've noticed one thing: While most DNS registrars in the US also provide fast DNS servers for the US region, the speed of those servers is very slow outside the US - if they are reachable at all.
If you notice your website's loading slowly on the first attempt (especially websites with visitors from all over the world), but successive page accesses are noticeably faster, then this might be due to heavy load on your dns server(s).
Just do a DNS lookup to see the dns lookup speed for your domain.
(DNSWatch lookups don't rely on any cached data - thus if you've just changed a DNS record, this will be seen instantaneously).
