I need some help in the following problem.
The administrator of te site needs to upload
several Word docs to the server, which need
to be secured with a user/password. The administrator
doesn't have knowledge of HTML and PHP.
Can you show me some directions of how to approach
this.

Do they need to be in Word Doc format?

If he saves them is .txt format it would be much easier to make a script to access them.

Yes , it must be in Word format because the page
contents some tables and graphs.
