Okay im a bit blonde when it comes to this. PHP is just not one of the things im good at.

Now my question. I am about to open up a image hosting site,

At the moment i have it hosted on one of my servers. Now the only problem is. I dont want the images uploaded to my server and the bandwidth is getting used.

Is it possible to hire a programer and they would be able to make the images upload to a differnt hosting on a complety differnt server?

You are probaly saying saying just host it on the hosting you want, but becuase the image hosting site is with forums, chat rooms on the same site i dont want to host the site on some unreliable host. i like speed!

It is possible, yes. But if you want to create a distributed file storage you will have to pay a lot. I think something like USD 10K for development plus something like USD 200/month for each server. If you outsource this task to Indian programmers you can get it three times cheaper, but nobody can guarantee that your system won't go down during high load.

I would be interested in helping with this, what kind of thing are you doing?

i might even be able to offer you some cheap hosting.

You could always host it out of your house or make it so every 3 months if a picture is not being looked out more then ten times it automatically is deleted.

That is a point you should always do with things like this always have a maintenance script which runs at lreast once a day, which optimises the DB, and as john said deletes pictures from the db and unlink()s them as well.

Just put the upload script itself on the other server and you should be fine You can create a subdomain or something for it.
