hey all,

Ok i am wondering what is the advantage to having .htm or .html on the end of mod rewrite urls? i seen it alot where its obvious that the pages are generated from db and the url is using htaccess mod rewrite but why do they add .html on the end?

Whats the point?

Its more for SEO but it does help the user if a URL is cleaned of query strings. Google admits that it will take longer to index a dynamically generated page with a long query string http://www.google.com/support/webmas...y?answer=35769.

Using mod_rewrite you can get rid of all your ??? and add a few keywords for good measure. I use it but haven't noticed too much of a difference. Worth doing though.

well the reason i implmented it was because i was told that google doesnt index dynamic pages with ? at all... but obviously they do..

anyway i was doing it anyway because makes it looka bit nicer.. So really its just for the sake of it to have .html added to like about/website so utes about/website.html (when it is really about?id=website )????
