Hi guys

I have managed to find a script to resize most pictures, the only problem i have is i cant get it to work with bmp files, it seems to pick up the files as wbmp format for some reason.

I have tryed to get him from the person who created the scrip with no luck, i have put it on here http://www.worldofchat.co.uk/resize/pictureresizing.php

Anyone any idea how i can get this to work for bmp files, or if its even possible ?

Why not just rename the bmp files to jpg?

I don't understand. Why can't you? I'm sure I can help with what you are trying to do. You could write a script to rename all your bmp files to jpg. That is easy, unless of course your app for whatever reason you have to have bmp files.

How about in your script, right before the resize... Rename the .bmp to .jpg, do the resize and rename back from .jpg to .bmp. That could all be done in the script. You'd upload the .bmp and get back a resized .bmp without ever knowing all the middle steps occured.

I'd better recommend to use external app called mogrify or convert to convert, resize and do whatever else with images. Both of them are command line utils from ImageMagick package and are installed on most hostings. It is not only much more reliable to convert images with specialized tool but also faster and less resource consuming than by script.
