This is just a guess, but for "filetube" i'm sure it uses a search script and a file download script that links to other servers for legal reasons. for the search script PCPlus magazine where doing a create your own search engine tutorial in its november issue. the search engine in the tutorial was using spiders(crawlers) to search the internet for specific or non-specific content, for file tube the crawlers where probably searching for web pages that contained the file extensions.
