1) What kind of chat system are you looking for?
2) Are you prepared to pay for segments?
3) Are you sure that you can handle a complex system when you're new to PHP?

if you want to make a chat system... i think i suggest you to have knowledge on ajax..

I created an entirely PHP based chat system before. It's not impossible, it requires meta refreshing though, and a DB (I used MySQL). Happily I lost everything due to the world pulling a big joke on me, both my PC, which I held my backups on, and my hosts went down at the same time and I lost everything on them both. I haven't had the want to redo this though since it was hard work creating the database back end, but if you post back with your original post corrected, including the edit reason, into proper English I'll write the system up again and post it.

rather than building your own, it might be easier for you to just use something someone else has already created... there are a large amount of free ones out there including:

I don't have any experience with those ones particularly, but search around, and i'm sure you can find something you like. You can customize colors and schemes and whatnot on a lot of them too.
