I am trying to use netbeans IDE 6.0 (with the PHP module) to connect to a server. Does anyone know why it keeps failing? Here is the error message.

         Ftp Error: Can't get /public_html directory listing 
         with Server Reply: PORT :501 Active mode is disabled

I have three theories:

1. It might be a problem with my firewall and "Active FTP" mode
2. It might be a problem with my host disallowing this kind of connection(?)
3. It might be because the IDE is beta software

I know I could use another IDE, but I really want to use netbeans because all my Java programming uses that as well. Also, the IDE looks perfect for some serious PHPBB3 modding :P. If anyone can help I would much appreciate it. Have spent 4+ hours on google with no positive results

I don't know your software at all or much about any of this, for that matter, but I think you need to switch it to passive mode.

Why use Netbeans. Use Zend !!
