If its PHPBB just go to the install directory , http://yoursite.com/install/

If you uploaded it to /forums/ it would be http://yoursite.com/forums/install

You will have to make a MYSql database in the Control Pannel of your hosting with a username too

Its very simple!

I'm guessing you're using a shared hosting service. Read the documentation provided by your hosting provider on how to do it. It's likely that a database has already been created for you, or you'll have a phpMyAdmin (or some clone) interface to either create your database, modifty your database, or modify users for your database.

You could always try looking at the PHPBB website for documentation as well. They should have an install guide.

If you have a shared host that happens to have Cpanel + Fantastico installed, you can select from a range of quick installations for open source forums like phpbb etc....It will setup a working base installation in less than 5 seconds, including database.

It looks kinda like this.
