I spent a day getting this thing going so if anyone has been having any bother with it give me a shout I have a patch. (FC users, maybee other linux dists too).

php-ming is an alternative to the php flash functions.

So in essence php-ming can produce on the fly flash movies. Excellent for slideshows and animation.

And it saves a few hundred quid buying FLASH MX plus its much easier to learn.

Now I dont know about shockwave-flash player. Since I already have it installed I never thought about it.

The flash does look just as good and its simply a case of learning the library and having a play. Plenty of examples out there.

I am currently working on an extension to the site where company's (in this case golf clubs) can upload pictures of their club. The php-ming script reads the directory gets all the images and creates a slide show. The images fade in and out in mine but you can do much much more.

The best part about it is you dont have to fork out all that money to get your hands on a flash editor. So no money to spend, shorter learning curve, cant get better than that.

The only have part is getting it installed.
