i'm using xampp on a winXP pro computer , i was trying to set up geeklog when i got this error:

"Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'testuser@localhost' (Using password: NO) in c:apachefriendsxamppsystemdatabasesmysql.class.php on line 108
Cannnot connect to DB server"

as far as i am aware the database does exsit and the user and privledges too.

is there something simple i've missed? this is getting annoying...

c:apachefriendsxamppsystemdatabasesmysql.class.php

Is this really the name of the file or should there be some slashes in there? On another note, I had problems with xampp and mysql as well, I just stopped trying to use it and installed all components myself.

The most confusing part about mysql is setting it up as a service but even thats not confusing once you do it once...

from the command prompt...C:\mysql\bin\mysqld-max-nt install

its as simple as that.

As for php, it can be a little confusing as the directions tell you no clear way to set it up with apache2 only apache1.3.

my advice would be to just use apache1.3 and php4 as to date I have yet to get php5 and mysql to play nice together on a windows machine. Follow the install directions with the php package and its fairly straight forward.
