can any one suggest me a good ebook or web site for learning PHP.

I want to learn it for making some changes in wordpress themes and for building some websites

Do i need to have idea on any programming language to learn PHP

I belive if you want to modify wordpress themes, you would rather need the html and css. Otherwise, I think this resource would be the best start for learning

well I would better suggest tizag for learning php, it explains better than w3schools.

I would recommend going out and buying a real book on the subject. PHP5, Apache, and MySQL Web Development by Wrox publishing is my personal favorite. If you want to get PHP, you don't have to have any prior programming experience. However, you should realize that PHP is a programming language and you will have to learn about programming in order to use it to the best of its ability.

Why buy something? First, you always have it handy. What if your internet connection goes down or you can't access it? Second, I find that books generally have better quality then online tutorials. They can act as references and more.
