I dont know which forum to place this in, so i've put it in the PHP forum thinking that those familiar with PHP are indefinitely familiar with .TPL files...

I was wondering if anyone could propose a solution to error I am receiving at this time.


I have uploaded a .tpl file to my server, and I have ChModded the file to 777

When I attempt to access the .tpl file (I do have the Path correct), but it says that the .tpl file cannot be read - or is not readable.

Though I have ChModded it to 777...

so I am confused as to why this may be so, and wonder if any of you guys familiar with .tpl files could assist me in troubleshooting why this may be so.

TPL file are usually included within another php based page and when they are they render as they are written.

I have never tried to access one with a browser directly so I do not know what the outcome would be. If it rendered at all I would guess it would show as plain text. The 777 is not needed.

Yes, I was trying to access the .tpl files indirectly by use of PHP scripts- (not directly with a browser)

it is a FREE social-networking script, much alike Myspace and Friendster

It looks like a pretty cool script for anybody who wants to create a social network of their own (and for free)

I have googled for instructions on how to install it, only to find that others are also experiencing difficulties trying to install it themselves (regardless of the fact that instructions come with the download)

If there is anybody out there who would like to try this script out themselves, and report back here with possible solutions as to why it may be difficult for others to install it; please share information.

Because it looks pretty cool, and i'm not really sure why it might not be intsalling correctly.

chmod the directory with that file also to 777

and then learn about file permissions, groups and users
