I'm trying to get the ionCube PHP loader installed on my Godaddy shared hosting account. I need it to run a mp3 script. I have no idea how to get it done. I've googled and founds forums where people were doing it and having problems. But I know it can be done.

Maybe GoDaddy doesn't support run-time loaders. Contact your web host they should be able to assist you with this

It can be done. I had to do it to run a gaming cms script I had. I remember going to the website, downloading the proper ioncube loaders, installing them into my root, and adding a line into my php.ini file. When you download the ioncube loaders it will come with a help script that will let you know which ones you need for your host. Run that script, install the proper loaders, and add the line into your php.ini file. I also remember adding the php.ini file into several of my folders that needed the loaders, so that may be your problem.Make sure a copy of the php.ini file is in all folders that need the loaders.

**edit.. go daddy doesnt support the loaders, and will give you no help in installing them. I had to call them myself when I was having trouble and they basically told me to figure it out on my own.. :\**

I installed IONCube loaders onto GoDaddy. Here is what I did.

1) I have PHP 5 installed, so my php.ini file must be called php5.ini.
2) I uploaded the loader to a directory on my system.
3) I added zend_extension = "/home/content/PERSONAL_PATH/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so" to the php5.ini file and uploaded.

That did it. Hope it helps you.

See I don't get it. This is what I've done! The script I am trying to get to work is on www.stevierayvaughan.org/mp3 (just search for a song on there and you'll see the problem)

Basically this is what I got.

I got a php5.ini file in my root directory (the mp3 script is in my /mp3 directory) My php5.ini file has only this inside of it:
zend_extension = /home/content/b/r/a/brandonroy/html/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so

Now I have a ioncube directory called iconcube. With these files in it:
ioncube_loader_lin_5.2_ts.so
ioncube-encoded-file.php
ioncube-loader-helper.php

That's it. Am I supposed to run something or what? Or should it be working just by uploading?

It may be that you have to have the php5.ini in each folder with encoded files -- not sure. Oh, wait, you're trying to load 5.2.so, but have only uploaded 5.2.ts.so, so you may want to check that what you wrote above is accurate before copying that file all over your server. Usually the loader-helper.php file will give you the stuff you need to install the loaders.
